Health & Safety Disclaimer
The most important page in this app to actually read. Please do.

MuscleMap is not a medical service. Talk to a physician before starting any exercise program β especially if you are pregnant, new to exercise, over 40, or have any pre-existing injury or medical condition. If at any point during a workout you feel chest pain, severe shortness of breath, dizziness, sudden severe joint pain, or any symptom that concerns you, stop immediately and seek medical attention. If you believe you are having a medical emergency, call your local emergency number right away β do not use this app for emergency guidance.
This is not medical advice
Everything in MuscleMap β exercise selection, coaching cues, sets and reps, rest periods, warm-up suggestions, and multi-week program schedules β is general fitness information written for a general audience. None of it is individualized medical advice, a diagnosis, or a treatment plan, and none of it accounts for your personal medical history, current health status, injuries, or physical limitations, because we have no way of knowing them.
Nutrition guidance and allergen filtering
MuscleMap can work out calorie and macronutrient targets from your body stats and suggest meals built around them. Two things about that feature matter more than the rest of this page, so they are stated plainly:
- The targets are general nutrition arithmetic β a standard equation applied to the height, weight, age, sex and activity level you entered. They are not a dietary prescription, they are not personalised to your health, and they do not account for pregnancy, breastfeeding, diabetes, kidney or liver conditions, an eating disorder, or any medication you take. If you are managing any of those, or working with a dietitian or physician, follow their guidance and not this app's.
- The allergen filter removes foods whose ordinary ingredients include something you have told us to avoid. That is the whole of what it does and the whole of what it can promise. It has no knowledge of the brand you buy, the factory it was packed in, whether a line is shared with something else, what a sauce was thickened with, or what a restaurant fried it in. Cross-contamination is real and this app cannot see it. For an allergy or intolerance of any seriousness, the label on the packet is the source of truth and this feature is a shopping aid, nothing more.
- MuscleMap will not suggest a daily calorie target below 1,200, and will not go below your estimated resting metabolic rate, whatever the arithmetic of your goal would otherwise produce. If you want to lose weight faster than those limits allow, that is a conversation to have with a doctor rather than a number to set in an app.
Exercise carries real risk
Any physical exercise β including bodyweight training, weightlifting, and conditioning work of the kind suggested in this app β carries an inherent risk of injury. Depending on your individual health, technique, equipment, and environment, that risk can include muscle strains and sprains, joint injuries, falls, cardiovascular events, and in rare but real cases, permanent disability or death. This risk exists even when exercises are performed correctly and even for people who are otherwise healthy.
Before you start
We strongly recommend you get clearance from a physician before beginning MuscleMap or any new exercise program if any of the following apply to you:
- you are pregnant or recently gave birth;
- you are new to exercise or returning after a long break;
- you are over the age of 40;
- you have a heart, lung, joint, bone, or metabolic condition;
- you have had a recent injury or surgery;
- you experience chest pain, dizziness, or shortness of breath during physical activity;
- a doctor has ever told you to limit your physical activity for any reason.
You are responsible for your own training
You are solely responsible for deciding whether an exercise, weight, workout, or program suggested by MuscleMap is appropriate for you, for using correct form, for using equipment that is in safe working condition, for training in a safe environment, and for stopping if something feels wrong. MuscleMapβs technique notes and coaching cues are general guidance, not a substitute for in-person instruction from a qualified trainer, especially if you are learning a movement for the first time.
No liability for injury or death
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MUSCLEMAP AND ITS OPERATORS ASSUME NO RESPONSIBILITY AND ACCEPT NO LIABILITY FOR ANY INJURY, ILLNESS, DISABILITY, OR DEATH THAT MAY RESULT, DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE OR YOUR PERFORMANCE OF ANY EXERCISE, WORKOUT, OR PROGRAM IT SUGGESTS. BY USING MUSCLEMAP, YOU VOLUNTARILY ASSUME ALL SUCH RISK. This section is part of, and should be read together with, the Limitation of Liability section of our Terms of Use.
